FORT SCOTT - Diversey is looking to fill 14 jobs at its new Fort Scott chemical blending plant as crews work toward an October start at the former Valu Merchandisers building.
Plant Manager Patrick Boles told the Monitor Thursday that the facility at 4805 Campbell Drive is expected to begin receiving materials from other company locations Oct. 15.
“We’re in a startup mode and so lots to do and everyone’s going to be wearing lots of hats,” Boles said.
Boles said crews are working six days a week to complete the build-out.
The Solenis-owned company is hiring a maintenance manager, warehouse supervisor, buyer, planner/scheduler, quality/safety manager, lab technician, three fork truck drivers and five chemical operators.
Boles said the company would prefer a degreed engineer for the maintenance manager position. A degree is also preferred for the quality/safety manager position.
SAP experience is required for the buyer and planner/scheduler positions and would be a major advantage for the warehouse supervisor opening.
Boles called warehouse supervisor “one of the hottest positions” the company is trying to fill.
“And the pay will be as good or better than anything that’s in town for those relative positions,” he said.
Boles also said regular full-time employees will receive benefits beginning their first day.
The jobs will be on day shift, although an exact starting time has not been set. Some overtime will also be available during the startup period, he said.
The Fort Scott operation will blend both dry and liquid chemicals and is expected to ship about 10 truckloads of product each day.
Boles said the plant initially will have 15 employees, including himself. He will oversee the operation as plant manager.
Boles said interested applicants can go to the Solenis careers site and choose the United States of America, Kansas (Remote) location to apply, as the Fort Scott positions will be listed there until Solenis adds the Fort Scott plant to their website.
