The Curator’s Eye: A Bowl with a Purpose

Sometimes a simple bowl can do something extraordinary.

This First Friday, August 7th, The Artificers will be hosting a special pottery demonstration as we throw bowls for the Empty Bowls project, a fundraiser benefiting Watered Gardens Ministries in Joplin, Missouri.

Empty Bowls is an international movement that brings artists and communities together to help fight hunger. The handcrafted bowls created during our demonstration will be donated to Watered Gardens’ annual fundraiser, where they will be paired with a simple meal of soup. Guests take home a handmade bowl as a reminder that, for many, an empty bowl is an everyday reality.

Throughout the evening, visitors are invited to stop by, watch pottery take shape on the wheel, ask questions, and learn how a simple piece of clay can become something that makes a real difference in someone’s life.
