Lake lot sale delayed over sewer capacity; residents to form their own lake committee

A proposed sale of five city-owned lots at Lake Fort Scott is on hold while the city reviews sewer capacity. Commissioners also discussed a resident-led lake committee.

Questions about sewer capacity at Lake Fort Scott led the city commission on Nov. 3 to hold off on selling five city-owned lots on the lake's east side. Later in the meeting, commissioners weighed reviving the Lake Advisory Board before settling on a resident-led committee instead.

City Manager Brad Matkin asked for approval to sell the five east-side lots as the first phase of selling city-owned lake property. Commissioner Matthew Wells said earlier commission discussions had centered on west-side lots, which the city paid Earles Engineering to survey.
