A faith-based health care nonprofit from the Kansas City area told the Fort Scott City Commission on Tuesday that it is considering opening a clinic at 118 E. Wall St. The building, which used to house Fort Scott Barber Shop, has been red-tagged for structural problems.

Brent Morris, CEO of Mercy & Truth Healthcare Ministry, spoke during public comment at the Oct. 6 meeting. He said building owners Jose and Mayra Montanez have offered to donate it to the ministry.

"We would look at this as an opportunity to expand our reach," Morris said.
