Historic Preservation Ordinance

The commission reviewed enforcement of the downtown historic preservation ordinance and Chapter 17.08. Staff reported legal review found the ordinances valid and enforceable only for work done after publication. No action taken.

Preservation Penalties

The commission discussed whether to raise historic preservation penalties to the Section 10.999 general penalty limits. No action taken.

Certified Local Government Program

The commission discussed the city’s continued participation in the Certified Local Government program. No action taken.

Design Guidelines Grant

Staff reported the city is awaiting state paperwork before issuing a request for proposals for an approximately $25,000 state grant to draft administrative design guidelines. No action taken.

Signage Enforcement

Commissioners Wells and Bukta directed codes staff to begin uniform enforcement of banner and exterior signage rules.

Owner Outreach

Staff reported educational packets will be hand-delivered to downtown building owners and occupants this week.
